Technical overview

  • Resolution: 160 x 128 pixels
  • Driver: ST7735S
  • Color depth: RGB, 65K colors
  • Operating voltage: 3.3 V
  • Dimensions: 61 mm x 51.5 mm
  • Connection: micro:bit edge connector, plug-in directly
  • Onboard SRAM (23LC1024) acts as display cache, prevents out-of-memory errors
  • SPI interface uses only a few IO pins
  • Backlight adjustable via PWM
  • Pre-soldered pads allow connection to Arduino/Nucleo boards

Commands and examples – verify before use:

P14 = MISO (SPI data master input/slave output)
P15 = MOSI (SPI data master output/slave input)
P13 = SCK (SPI clock input)
P16 = LCD_CS (LCD chip selection)
P2 = RAM_CS (SRAM chip selection)
P12 = DC (LCD data/command)
P8 = RST (LCD reset)
P1 = BL (LCD backlight)

Notes and version constraints

  • The source does not contain explicit command-line or CLI commands; the 'commands' refer to pin assignments from the pinout table.
  • For programming, TypeScript (graphical) and MicroPython are recommended; per the source, only TypeScript demo code is provided for this LCD.
  • Two different GitHub packages must be selected correctly depending on the micro:bit version (legacy vs. V2).
  • The package installation step requires manually copying the URL into MakeCode; exact steps may be version-sensitive.
  • No compatibility details for other microcontrollers despite available solder pads – needs technician confirmation.
