Summary

The SIM7600E-H is a 4G module HAT for the Raspberry Pi with LTE Cat-4, 3G/2G fallback and integrated GNSS reception. It supports telephony, SMS, TCP/IP data transfer, and integration into embedded systems via UART or USB.

Technical overview

  • Supported bands: LTE-FDD B1/B3/B5/B8; LTE-TDD B38/B39/B40/B41; UMTS/HSPA+ B1/B8; GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800 MHz.
  • GNSS support: GPS, BeiDou, Glonass and LBS base stations.
  • Throughput: up to 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink (LTE Cat-4).
  • Interfaces: 40-pin GPIO expansion header for Jetson Nano, UART control pins, USB interface, audio jack, TF card slot.
  • Power supply: voltage translator allows operation at 3.3V or 5V via jumper.
  • Baud rates: default 115200 bps, configurable from 300 bps to 4 Mbps; autobauding between 9600 and 115200 bps.
  • Application areas: medical, smart payment, environmental monitoring, fleet management, smart industry, smart agriculture.

Notes and version constraints

  • Exact AT command details are only partially visible in the source; full documentation required.
  • New hardware version from H2 2021 includes changed circuit elements; behavior may differ on legacy units.
  • MMS is not supported according to the FAQ.
  • The reset pin was not brought out; restart only possible via AT+CRESET.
  • For firmware updates, the boot pad must be short-circuited – only applicable when the normal update path fails.
