== Summary ==
The Waveshare Pico-CAN-B is a CAN bus expansion module that plugs into the standard Pico header. It uses an MCP2515 CAN controller with an SPI interface and an SN65HVD230DR transceiver to enable reliable long-range communication between the Pico and other CAN devices.

== Technical overview ==
* Connection: standard Raspberry Pi Pico header; note orientation when inserting (the USB marking on the module indicates alignment).
* CAN controller: MCP2515 via SPI.
* CAN transceiver: SN65HVD230DR (also referred to as SIT65HVD230DR in the source text – verify naming).
* Operating voltage: 3.3 V to 5 V.
* Supported baud rates: 5 kbps to 1 Mbps.
* Dimensions: 52 x 21 mm.
* Included resources: online development resources and manual with C/C++ and MicroPython examples.
* Direct demo download on the Raspberry Pi: sudo apt-get install p7zip-full; wget of the demo archive and extract.

== Notes and version constraints ==
* The transceiver is named both SN65HVD230DR and SIT65HVD230DR in the source text – the exact part number should be verified before use.
* The baud rate range (5 kbps to 1 Mbps) must be configured identically on both the Pico-CAN-B and the peer device; the source does not provide specific configuration commands for this.
* Firmware flashing is version-sensitive: flashing certain MicroPython firmwares onto a Pico2 may make the device unrecognized – only use the firmware provided in the package.
* The demo file is named MCP2512.py even though the controller is MCP2515 – check the filename before opening it.
* If issues arise during the first-time Arduino IDE upload, fully uninstall the Arduino IDE and manually delete the contents of C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\Arduino15 before reinstalling.
