== Summary ==
The Waveshare PCIe TO USB 3.2 Gen1 (B) adapter (SKU WSAL18899) adds four high-speed USB ports to a Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IO board. It uses an onboard VL805 chip and is driver-free (plug-and-play). Power is supplied via the PCIe slot (12 V and 3.3 V) or alternatively through a 12 V DC header.

== Technical overview ==
* Four USB 3.2 Gen1 ports with backward compatibility for USB 3.0, 2.0, and 1.1 devices
* Power can be drawn either from the PCIe slot (12 V and 3.3 V rails) or from a separate 12 V DC header
* Onboard VL805 controller enables immediate use without installing additional drivers
* Designed specifically for the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 IO board; when used on a standard PC motherboard, connecting it via a PCIe extension cable is recommended
* When mounting in a computer, the module must be secured with standoffs; otherwise vibration may prevent the system from recognizing the device
* Verify that both the 12 V and 3.3 V power pins on the PCIe connector are functioning correctly before use
* The adapter is plug-and-play and requires no driver installation
* Technical support is available weekdays between 9 AM and 6 PM GMT+8

== Notes and version constraints ==
* Exact mechanical dimensions and mounting positions are not specified in the source – verify case compatibility before installation.
* Whether the adapter is reliably recognized in other PCIe slots (e.g., x1/x4/x8/x16) is not confirmed in the source.
* The specific firmware version of the VL805 chip and potential updates are not documented.
* There is no information about certifications, warranty terms, or safety testing in the source file.
