== Summary ==
The Waveshare MAX-M8Q GNSS HAT is a multi-constellation receiver hat for Raspberry Pi supporting GPS, Beidou, Galileo and GLONASS. The document covers positioning principles (GNSS, RTK), hardware connections, serial port configuration, Python examples, and NTP server setup.

== Technical overview ==
* GNSS encompasses multiple satellite navigation systems: BDS (China), GLONASS (Russia), GPS (USA), Galileo (Europe), QZSS (Japan) and IRNSS (India).
* RTK (Real Time Kinematic) enables centimeter-level positioning via differential measurement between base and mobile stations over the mobile network.
* The MAX-M8Q HAT provides UART, I2C, PPS and INT connections; the INT pin is low-active as a wake-up signal.
* For Raspberry Pi, the serial port must be enabled via raspi-config: Interfacing Options -> Serial -> No -> Yes, then reboot.
* The gpsd daemon configuration requires editing /etc/default/gpsd with USBAUTO="false", DEVICES="/dev/ttyS0" and GPSD_OPTIONS="/dev/ttyUSB0".
* The Python library gps3 is installed via pip3; demo codes are located in ~/Documents/MAX-XXX_GNSS_HAT_Code/RaspberryPi/python/coordinate_converter.
* For STM32 boards (XNUCLEO-F103RB), connect RXD to P9(TX) and TXD to P10(RX); the project is compiled in Keil and downloaded.
* NTP server setup uses the module's PPS output; gpiopin=18 is configured in /boot/config.txt.
* When using Jetson Nano, the serial port /dev/ttyTHS1 is used; minicom at 9600 baud rate checks data.
* The FAQ notes that BeiDou and Galileo are only visible when NMEA 4.10 output is enabled.

== Notes and version constraints ==
* The source document contains placeholders such as {{{name2}}} through {{{name6}}} and {{{userDefinedInfo}}}, indicating incomplete metadata.
* The NTP server section mentions NEO-M8T instead of MAX-M8Q; it is unclear whether these steps apply directly to the MAX-M8Q.
* Demo file URLs use the placeholder 'MAX-XXX' instead of 'MAX-M8Q'; the actual URL must be verified before execution.
* Compatibility with other Raspberry Pi models (e.g., Pi 5) is not explicitly stated.
* Exact power supply values (voltage, current draw) are missing from the source text.
* No information on warranty, certifications, or safety compliance is provided.
