== Technical overview ==
* Resolution: 800 × 480 pixels; resistive touch control via GPIO.
* Connection to Raspberry Pi uses the display's 26-pin GPIO header and an HDMI cable; a separate HDMI cable is required for Pi Zero/Zero 2 W.
* The display can also be used as a plain computer monitor, in which case the touch function is unavailable.
* Supported operating systems: Raspberry Pi OS, Ubuntu, Kali, Retropie.
* Basic configuration adds lines such as hdmi_group=2, hdmi_mode=87, hdmi_cvt 800 480 60 6 0 0 0, hdmi_drive=1 and dtoverlay=waveshare-ads7846,… at the end of /boot/config.txt.
* The file waveshare-ads7846.dtbo is copied into /boot/overlays/.
* Touch calibration is done by adjusting the parameters x_min, x_max, y_min, y_max in the dtoverlay entry; reference values can be measured with evtest.
* Screen rotation can be controlled via Screen Configuration, Wayfire, xrandr or display_rotate depending on the system version.
* At a 5 V input, current draw is approximately 235 mA with backlight on and approximately 45 mA with backlight off.

== Notes and version constraints ==
* Exact pin mappings and circuit variants depend on the hardware revision; verify your own revision before connecting.
* Several steps are version-dependent (e.g., config.txt vs. cmdline.txt, KMS/FKMS drivers); confirm the current system version before applying them.
* Calibration values must be measured per device; the default values are only a starting point.
* Current figures apply to a 5 V input; other supply voltages require recalculation.
* No information on certifications, warranty, or pricing was present in the source document; these items need separate confirmation.
