== Summary ==
The Waveshare SX1262 XXXM LoRaWAN/GNSS HAT is a Raspberry Pi expansion board using the new-generation SX1262 RF chipset. It supports Sub-GHz bands (433/470 MHz or 868/915 MHz), communicates via SPI, and offers an optional GNSS positioning function with GPS/BD support. The board targets developers of LoRaWAN nodes that connect to networks through gateways such as TTN.
== Technical overview ==
* Connects via the standard Raspberry Pi 40-pin GPIO header; communication with the SX1262 uses the SPI bus interface.
* The BUSY pin indicates chip operating state: low means idle and ready, high means busy; register access is only possible during idle.
* The RESET signal must be pulled low for at least 100 µs to restore factory settings; it remains high during normal operation.
* RXEN and TXEN control the RF single-pole switch (SPDT): RXEN low + TXEN high = receive mode; RXEN high + TXEN low = transmit mode.
* TXEN is connected to BCM(6), RXEN is unused by default (-1); DIO2 is directly connected to RXEN and controls the RF switch during transmission.
* DIO1 is typically configured as an interrupt output; DIO3 and GPIO4 are reserved pins per datasheet sections 8.3.2 and 8.5.
* Maximum SPI speed is 18 MHz; register access follows the Opcode + Address + Data pattern per datasheet chapters 8, 10, 11, and 12.
* The GNSS version includes an L76K module with GPS/BD support and a battery holder for ML1220 rechargeable batteries to preserve data during power loss and enable hot starts.
== Notes and version constraints ==
* The current version of the SX1262 XXXM LoRaWAN/GNSS HAT has no TTN-related routines; for TTN server communication, the Pico-LoRa-SX1262-XXXM is recommended instead.
* The example programs each require two identical HATs for transmitter/receiver tests; a single module alone is insufficient.
* Firmware modifications (DFU) are not supported; firmware can only be controlled via the demo examples.
* Version-specific steps may vary depending on software version; verify current compatibility before execution.
* The GNSS function requires additional hardware (L76K module) and is only available in the GNSS variant.
